The Dos and Don’ts of DIY Lash Application

Doing your own lashes at home can save you time and money—but only if done right. Here’s a simple breakdown of the do's and don’ts that every lash lover should know:

DO: Use a Lash Applicator

Fingers work in a pinch, but a curved lash applicator ensures precision and control—especially when applying cluster lashes close to the lash line.

DO: Apply to Clean, Dry Lashes

Oil, makeup, or leftover mascara can ruin adhesion. Make sure your lashes are completely clean before starting.

DO: Start from the Outer Corner

Begin placing your lash clusters from the outer edge and move inward. It helps maintain a natural shape and flow.

DO: Use the Right Amount of Bond

Too little and they’ll fall off. Too much and they’ll clump. Use just enough bond to coat the base of the cluster—nothing more.

DON’T: Apply on the Waterline

Never place lash clusters directly on the skin or waterline. Always apply slightly above the lashes for better comfort and longevity.

DON’T: Skip the Seal

A sealing step locks in the bond, minimizes stickiness, and helps your lashes last for days. Don't skip this step!

DON’T: Sleep Face-Down

Even the best DIY lash sets can shift if you sleep on your face. Use a silk pillowcase and try to sleep on your back.

DON’T: Pull Them Off Dry

When removing your lashes, use a lash remover or oil-based cleanser. Pulling them off can damage your natural lashes.

Mastering the art of DIY lash application takes a little practice, but these tips will help you avoid the most common mistakes and enjoy flawless results every time.
